Kosmikon is one of the oldest restaurants in the area of Plaka in Athens underneath of the Acropolis. The building has been constructed around the year 1850.The main aim was to respect the history of the building. Gloria Gati is the new restaurant of chef George Papakostas who jokingly refers to Gloria as the older sister of Vittoria Gati, another famous restaurant of his in Glyfada. Gloria is located in a historic building in the Athens center just 50 meters from Syntagma square. It is defined by an eclectic vintage design in a very cosy space where the pizza oven takes center stage. The bar serves award winning cocktails and over 100 wines from Greece and around the globe. The menu is Italian with a focus on homemade pasta and quality meats. The pizza is made from a 1937 sourdough and baked in a traditional oven imported from Naples. Some of the signature dishes include the steak tartare, arancini bolognese, the raviolo cacio pepe, the reginette al tartufo for truffle lovers as well as pollo francese and the ossobuco which is cooked for 12 hours. A tiramisu is a must here accompanied by a single estate espresso. Outside seating is available all year round in the courtyard of St George church

The food was really tasty, especially the pasta. You should try the Alfredo dish. The ambience is nice although we sat on the outdoor area. I would come back for sure!

Unfortunately it seemed our table was likely double booked right before the Christmas Eve tasting menu was due to start. Service was excellent, food was equally great but we did feel a bit rushed. Cocktails were watered down and not very good. Overall not a bad experience but could have been better.
