Current opening hours can be viewed here -https://thestackrestaurant.com/Restaurant closes at 1am,-when making a booking please allow yourself as much time as possible to relax and enjoy your visit.Outside area-closed at 12am ,which we recommend booking in advance. Situated in the coastal village of Muchalls, just off the A90, and 10 minutes from Aberdeen and Stonehaven,The restaurant derives its name from the sea stacks located on the beautiful surrounding coastline.It is brought to you and led by head chef and owner Andy Smart, who’s aim is to offer a flexible and relaxed environment where everybody is welcome.Dogs are also welcomed too.(we have treats and water bowls for them!)Dining in a relaxed environment , the food style is seasonal and inventive and draws inspiration from international flavours, whilst using local suppliers, with an emphasis on simplicity, and where the staff are both friendly and professional.

    We’ve eaten here twice now and had a great experience both times. There’s a great choice on the menu for meat lovers, the ‘big cheese’ burger and the brisket bun being two of our favourite dishes. Service today was on form even though it’s that busy period between Christmas and New Year. We were served by Mia who was excellent and very polite! We will definitely be visiting again.

    The food at The Stack is always delicious. It has become our favourite restaurant to visit as it feels special whilst also being young child friendly. We’re always hoping the kids don’t finish their Mac and cheese so that we can have a bite.

    Highly recommend the Tolbooth. Went here recently for a date night with my boyfriend. The service and food were amazing. Quality of food compared to price is very good. I had the oysters to start and my partner had the shellfish bisque. For mains we had the blade of beef and I was going to have the hake but with the fish markets being all over the place I opted for the cod which came with the same accompaniments as the hake. The piece of cod and beef we received was a very good portion. Everything was delicious. For desserts we had the salted pecan cookie and the Christmas pudding both were lovely. Good portions good food good service! My only quibble is I wish there was more options for single glasses of Rose. It was nice but a little more choice would be grand. We will be back!

    Always an excellent choice of interesting food, brilliantly cooked with perfect professional friendly service in comfortable surroundings. Extensive choice of accompanying wines. Fruh Kolsh as excellent choice for an alcohol free beer. Deserts are superb. A consistently great restaurant over the years.
