   Our server was outstanding. I can't remember his name exactly. Aditya? Sorry for messing up the spelling. He has waited on me several times and is always friendly and efficient.

   I love going to the Canteen before the theatre. The fish and chips is probably some of the best I have ever tasted and I'm from the UK! My granddaughter and daughter loved the seared tuna and said the vegetarian Poutine was delicious. Only downside - no chocolate brownie - they were out of it so we were advised they had a chocolate mousse available which my granddaughter and I ordered. I don't drink and neither does my granddaughter (at least I hope not at her age). I asked the waitress whether there was any liquor in it. The overwhelming back taste of an orange - what tasted like Grand Marnier - completely overwhelmed the chocolate and for me ruined the dessert. I have never not finished a dessert. This was the exception. I asked the wait staff again whether there was any liquor in the mousse. She said not. it was a shame as otherwise I would give this 5 stars. I have never had a bad meal at the Canteen

   Problems in the kitchen! Canteen was understaffed on Sunday, and the kitchen was overwhelmed. It would have been great to see one of the two managers put on an apron and a hairnet to go help out. Instead they were wandering around trying to deal with the fallout. My Eggs Benny arrived very late with no peameal bacon. The waiter apologized and brought some as a side. He was helpful and appalled at the situation. My friend would have liked to sip some non-alcoholic wine or beer, but there were only 0% cocktails on the menu. Get with the times, Canteen!

   The service was great. We had a wonderful waitress. She was very attentive and friendly ! I was extremely disappointed in the food quality. I was expecting more of the same calibre of all other Oliver and Bonacini restaurants.

   Great pre theatre place to dine. They also have a kids menu, in case you’re going for a bite before the Lion King.

   Honestly this is a great spot to eat before a show. Food is always reliably great, not super fancy but service is warm and friendly. Serving staff is also cognizant of your time and that most people need to get to a show. Highly recommend. I’ve eaten here a dozen times and have not been disappointed!

    I made breakfast plans with a dear friend. The service was exceptional. Our server Maddie was very attentive, not too over-bearing, and was managing multiple tables at once. Her knowledge and bright energy was a warm welcome. The food was divine, however the wait for it to appear on our table took a little longer than anticipated. Would recommend this spot if you’re going to see a play, concert or movie at the Bell TIFF Lightbox.
