Founded in 2014 in Chicago by cousins Jared Rouben (Brewmaster) and Jeremy Cohn (CEO), Moody Tongue is built on the philosophy of culinary brewing, appealing to those with a discerning palate or, as Rouben describes, a "moody tongue." Utilizing his extensive culinary background and brewing education, Rouben approaches brewing with a chef's mindset. In 2019, the brewery relocated and expanded to launch two dining concepts: (1) a lively, à la carte restaurant, THE BAR, and (2) an elevated, intimate fine dining restaurant, THE DINING ROOM, helmed by Executive Chef James Bingham.     The experience was out of this world. Understandably my boyfriend and I weren’t able to get a reservation for Valentine’s Day so we set one for the day after. We were seated quickly in a cozy booth in a beautifully decorated room. We started with the oysters - the mignonette was delightful! We also shared the steak tartare which we were a little intimidated by at first but really enjoyed. Before dinner I had the professional martini and it really was the perfect drink, followed by their Robert Pampignac Brut with dinner - my boyfriend usually only drinks beer and he said it was unreal! For the main course my boyfriend ordered the venison burger and I ordered the scallops. Both of us were wowed by the quality and flavors of our entrees, everything was perfectly cooked! Our server Iryna was friendly and attentive, she has waited on me in the past and it was such a treat to be served by her again. The Gage has become our favorite restaurant. We can’t wait to visit again!

    We went here after getting married at city hall and the staff made this such a wonderful experience! They put flowers at our table and wrote us a handwritten card with complimentary Prosecco. Great service and food, and they were accommodating to our party of 12. Would recommend to anyone!

    Service was outstanding, especially considering our reservation was at 9pm and the staff was working the dinner service for many hours. Unbelievably service oriented. Food was exceptional, as always. The place was packed, and as a result the decibel level was high. It was expensive, but we really enjoyed being taken care of on the night before Valentine’s Day.
