With the intent to respect the environment and promote environmentally sustainable practices, Glen Prairie Fine Food & Drink (1250 Roosevelt Rd., Glen Ellyn, Ill.), is a local farm sourced fine dining restaurant with contemporary American cuisine. The cuisine emphasizes hearty meat, pasta and seasonal dishes utilizing meats, poultry and produce farmed locally or from across the country from farms practicing sustainable farming methods and celebrates the joys of artisanal cooking. Even the takeout containers are compostable and made from sugarcane rather than petroleum based plastics. Glen Prairie’s menu is designed to emphasize seasonal ingredients to showcase a variety of American flavors. The restaurant team shops local farmers' markets several times a week to source fresh ingredients.

    Went for Valentines day and had a great time! They were running a bit behind so we had to wait about 20 minutes for a table even with reservations (which was totally fine). When we got seated we immediately had our waiter come to us to explain the pre set menu and take our drink orders. Every part of the meal was delicious (the milk chocolate candy bar fondue was to die for) and our waiter was very attentive. The only "negative" I would say is that it took forever to get our drinks. Not a huge deal, we saw they only had one guy working the bar for the whole place (and it was packed!). Everything overall was fantastic though and we will totally be back!

    Have always wanted to go to Benihana. I lived in Japan for 6 years so am a fan of tepanyaki. My husband and I chose seating in the bar area since it was just the two of us. We were seated in a quiet, intimate area next to windows overlooking the snow covered Japanese garden. Beautiful view despite the urban setting! We selected meals from the specialties section of the menu - excellent value for what you get: grilled filet mignon, veggies, shrimp, lobster with soup, salad, green tea and sherbet! The food was fantastic! Grilled to perfection with ginger and garlic sauce and a mustard sauce for added umami. Delicious! You don’t have to be seated at the communal grill with a view of the chef for an excellent meal. Can’t wait to go back!!

    The food was excellent as usual. Especially loved the broccoli soup. Our server Gwendolyn was exceptional and very attentive. My friends and I love this place! Can’t wait until we go back again.
