The name "Cooperage Inn" comes from the craft of coopering, which goes back a few centuries, when it was the major method of packaging. We are located in the Long Island Wine region. The Port Bistro and Pub, located in the heart of Port Jefferson, NY is a family friendly restaurant that serves classic dishes and specializes in old world authentic foods and recipes. The restaurant’s dining room and bar now occupy the former home of Port Jefferson’s Original Elks’ Hotel dating back to the 1930’s. Port’s Chef focuses on the farm to table concept, using organic and all fresh ingredients when creating the regularly changing menus. Daily fresh fish dishes are a staple, too. Old World Authentic dishes, from fresh pastas to desserts are inspired by traditional recipes of the owners’ and chef’s ancestors from Greece, Germany, Southern Italy and other European regions.

    The food and service were outstanding! You can get lost in all of the wonderful offerings in their store. Such a great idea to eat in such a lovely ambiance. Our food was beautifully plated and delicious. We opted to eat half our servings in order to try some of their desserts! We were not disappointed! And we got our leftovers packed away to eat later. This was a beautiful experience from start to finish... We will be back soon!

    We visited on Valentine’s Day and the restaurant was completely booked. The hostess was very pleasant, the manager was very personable and our server was incredible. The Valentine’s dinner menu had so many options. Our meal came out promptly and everything was delicious!!!

    Went for the prix fixe menu for our Valentine’s dinner. It was on the pricier side ($200+ pp including alc), but every aspect of the dinner was spectacular. Unexpectedly met with rose pedals on the table and a (optional) raspberry cocktail. All of their cocktails looked incredible on other tables, but we split a very nice Cab. All the courses were amazing, moderate amounts, but after four courses we were filled up. Wagyu tenderloin and carrot cake were 12/10. Will definitely be going back for a dinner with the regular menu in the near future. If you don’t mind the cost, then the Valentine’s dinner is a special date night experience.

    We went on Valentines Day! It was crowded. Glad we made a reservation. Although they were busy the service was great! Kudos to our waitress. I’m not sure if I’m pronouncing her name right “Befa”. She was amazing and professional! The food was overall delicious. Mom husband had the duck and I had the veal. Lobster bisque was delicious. Big portions. We shared the calamari for 2 it could be for 4 people. Large portions. I thought the calamari could have been more spiced up with more garlic though. Overall it was a great dinner.
