General Public is inspired by trying to imagine what an upscale English pub would be if it had the heart of an American brasserie (and was open 11 to 11). It’s also going to signal a little bit of steakhouse, but not too much. And finally, it will look behind itself at the Black Hoof, which you will see reflected in James Santon’s menu here and there. In terms of vibe, the main floor is ‘everything’s gone green’, with lush comfortable banquette seating, warm wood, and barstools designed for long conversations over many cocktails. Upstairs you’ll find a completely different space that transports you to a peachy 80s dream. We had a great time at Joey, Yorkdale. After being seated at a less than desirable table, Paisley graciously reseated us at a much better booth table on the upper level. Food was delicious, service was wonderful and overall an enjoyable evening was had by all at our table. Thank you, Paisley!

We went to Alobar for dinner right after our wedding. Everyone loved the food and remarked that the striploin steak and lobster were the best they’ve ever had. I thought the broccolini was the real scene stealer. The ambience was lovely, perfect for the occasion, and the noise level was moderate. The folks waiting us were friendly and overall we had a lovely night.
