Owner John Conrad met his wife Walailak in Thailand, where she was born and raised. John lived and worked in Thailand for 5 yrs and adored the experience. He looked for a way to bring an authentic Thai cultural experience back to America.That’s how Sawasdee was born: as a restaurant that combines authentic Thai cuisine with modern dining.     I really wanted to love this restaurant. The food was very good. The vibe was great. The music was a little too loud. My biggest gripe: they need to hire more servers. Our waiter, Zach, was great but you could tell he was the only capable server in the restaurant on a busy Saturday night. He handled multiple tables and multiple birthdays and any issues we had were not his fault. We could tell he was doing his best but I felt like I was chasing him for anything we needed. All in all - nice place but go on a weeknight when it's not so busy.

    A Wonderful Turnaround at Jade Eatery I wanted to take a moment to follow up on my previous review of Jade Eatery. After sharing my experience, the owner reached out to me directly and was extremely apologetic. He assured me that the level of service I encountered was not the standard they strive for, and he kindly invited us back to give the Hicksville location another try. I’m so glad we did! The difference was night and day. Our server, Pemma, was gracious, knowledgeable, and made excellent recommendations. Every suggestion she made was spot on, and her attentive service made the meal even more enjoyable. Our experience this time exceeded our expectations. The lychee martinis were perfect, the chicken teriyaki wings were some of the best we’ve ever had anywhere, and the sushi presentation was lovely. To top it off, the desserts were wonderful and provided the perfect end to a fantastic meal. We’re happy to say that Jade Eatery will now be on our list as a go-to place, and we’re excited to return again soon. We also can’t wait for their third location to open in Port Washington! Thank you to the owner and team for turning things around and showing us what Jade Eatery is truly about. Looking forward to many more visits!
