Nestled in the heart of Ashtown Village, Dublin 15, overlooking the Royal Canal, The Lock Keeper can be found at Lock #10. Steeped in heritage, this double lock was constructed c.1792. With quality stonework and attractive sloping edges Lock 10 is one of 46 along the Royal Canal and continues to be a testament to the skill of the craftsmen involved. Our bar is adjacent to the Lock Keepers House, a post that became obsolete in 1961 when the canal was closed to traffic the previous year. The Royal Canal, which runs from the River Liffey to the River Shannon and stretches a distance of 145km, was originally built for freight and passenger transportation with the last working barges ceasing to operate in 1951.Now beautifully maintained by Irish Waterways, you are welcome to visit The Lock Keeper by canoeing, walking or cycling from Dublin City Centre.     Without a doubt a must on anyone’s list visiting Dublin, not only for the obvious reasons but for the fact it has amazing staff, brilliant atmosphere and the food and drink are top quality, we were taken back at the quality and portions given to the price paid. We had the pleasure of being on the premises with Conor and his beautiful family, what a gent and what a lovely family. Highly recommend a visit to The Black Forge Inn to any trip to Dublin.     Excellent as always! Super food and great service! Very impressed how an incident in the play area was handled, staff super quick to clean up and no drama created! It really is a great place for all the family to enjoy themselves! I’ve also just realised I was super late for my booking (I mixed up my times!) nothing was even said which I would have been mortified over, so really appreciate that we were accommodated with ease!

    Booked slevins for a family meal. Was giving the raised area, could watch the euros comfortably. Waiter very promptly came and took our order,and told us the days specials. We received our drinks followed swiftly by our main course. Afterwards we were told there was music out in the beer garden. So we went to investigate. And ended up staying for the evening. Music whatas fabulous. Service was great. Overall the evening was fantastic
