The Japanese film Tampopo was marketed as the world’s first “ramen western”. It’s the story of two truck drivers, Goro & Gun, who use their culinary expertise to change the fate of a struggling noodle shop. Those two characters' passion for noodle-making lives on at Calgary’s 150-seat noodle bar — led by executive chef Ryusuke Araki. Located inside Stephen Avenue Place, upstairs on the Plus 15 level, the restaurant melds modern art graphics with distinctive hardwood and right angles of Japanese decor.     We came here for our anniversary. Everything was perfect. The food was a fun mix of 2 types of cuisines. We ordered sushi tacos, duck duck, and the gyozagna. Everything tasted really good. When I asked what tea they had, I was not expecting a huge menu with so many choices. I knew of a lot of these teas so it was a pleasant surprise to have more options than just "green tea" or "black tea" in a tea bag. We went with "The Formless One" a Phoenix Oolong. This was the perfect pairing to go with the food. And it was really cool to have them prepare the tea at your table. A bit of a mini show. Our server Josh was very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. He was very welcoming, took his time with us, and helped explain things when we had questions. He even opened the door and waited for us when we were leaving to say goodbye. This was the perfect dining experience for our anniversary. The servers said happy anniversary to us several times during our meal. The combination of really good food, quality tea, and service at Carino made for the perfect night out for us. I left feeling full and very content.

    Best pork I have ever had! It was juicy and flavourful with a crispy exterior, and the small stone grill was the perfect temperature for finishing the meat to our liking. The meal came with a variety of smaller dishes that left us feeling incredibly satisfied. We will be back soon!
