Locally sourced and seasonally inspired, Tavern on Kruse changes menus every 12 weeks as we weave the season's perfectly-fresh and perfectly ripe bounty into our offerings. Our executive chef, Nathan Bates, spent four and half years at the Michelin 3-Star "Fifth Floor" in San Francisco. Walk-in's always welcome! Screen Door is a restaurant that presents itself as a love letter to the American South and the revival of regional cooking. Each day, the restaurant receives natural, local organic meats and produce from nearby vendors. The inclusion of regional Pacific Northwest ingredients into a menu of dishes developed in the south has created a unique flavor profile in Screen Door's menu. Many of Screen Doors dishes draw their inspiration from Louisiana and the Cajun cooking that's found there. These include our world-famous fried chicken, Lowcountry shrimp and grits, smoked andouille chicken gumbo and fried okra. Other items, like the house-smoked beef brisket and braised pork shoulder, come straight from the state of Texas. The rest of the South is well represented as well with a Carolina pulled pork sandwich, chicken and waffles, crispy fried oysters and a pimiento cheese & sausage biscuit sandwich with a fried egg and cheddar grits.

Dining area was draped off from the bar area which was a unique way to section the two areas. Noise could still be heard from the bar. However we were seated by the door and despite the efforts to keep the cold out my wife was could through our dinner. I appreciate the effort to section off the cold but it was still a bother. Food was good but the Pork Oso Buccu I was looking forward to ordering ran out. The ravioli was a good substitute so perhaps an earlier reservation to get full options from the menu might be needed.

Glad the prime rib is back on the Saturday menu. Good size piece of cow cooked to perfection. The halibut was also excellent.

Staff was extremely attentive and accommodating to my nut allergies. All of our food and wine from starters to entrees was absolutely amazing. Atmosphere was tremendous too.

We had a nice dinner on veterans day. Since being a veteran my meal was complimentary. Only thing that could have made it an even greater experience was to have had happy hour.
