The Duke of Wellington Inn is nestled in the tranquil Tyne valley village of Newton just off the A69 near Corbridge, within easy access to Newcastle, Hadrian"s Wall Country, Hexham and Northumberland's National Park. The décor reflects the traditional country inns history but with a modern twist. Existing oak and stone has been enhanced with modern colours, furniture and fabrics, and the theme extends to the bedrooms.Lunches and dinners are served seven days a week in the bar and dining room. The food provided is traditional British comfort eating to an exceptional standard and makes use of local, seasonal ingredients. A comprehensive range of beers and ales compliments an extensive wine list. The inn experience continues with seven bedrooms providing a very high quality of luxury accommodation. Lucky to get same day booking for four for Sunday Lunch. Service was fabulous, staff extremely attentive and friendly. Sunday lunch was very good, all opted for beef which was plentiful and beautifully tender. Vegetables all freshly prepared, and well cooked. Huge Yorkshire pudding and extra gravy served on request Deserts absolutely huge and all gorgeous . Could not fault it at all. Very good value for two courses. Will definitely return.

We were given a lunch voucher for a present and we really enjoyed our visit. All three courses that we chose were delicious and the meal came with 2 glasses of fizzy. The restaurant has an interesting history and had a pleasant atmosphere.

Wonderful service from start to finish. Three course fixed price menu for lunch was ideal. Our waiter, Oliver was exemplary! Good dining and service is what makes a five star review. We will - and have - made 21 our favourite. PLEASE! Do not change what you are good at! Hats off to Oliver!
