Uncle Bacala’s specializes in Italian-style seafood and other inventive dishes in its warm and cozy New Hyde Park eatery. For a tantalizing start to your meal, enjoy the mozzarella in carrozza cheese-stuffed fried country bread and the mashed potato and mozzarella croquettes, both served with marinara sauce. Some of Uncle Bacala’s house entrées include the breaded salmone in agrodolce served over eggplant in a honey garlic sauce, the beef filetto di manzo with mushrooms, roasted potatoes and spinach in gorgonzola-cognac sauce and the apricot-glazed grilled pork chop. Pasta dishes are also popular with diners at Uncle Bacala’s, with options including the baked penne gratin with pancetta and cheese in a creamy sauce and the zucchini linguini fra diavolo, all of which can be made gluten free.     Wonderful service; we had crispy Brussel sprouts and Fuji Apples and delicata squash with prosciutto as appetizers. They were prepared and presented beautifully. Excellent burgers, and chicken paillard with little gem Caesar was wonderful as well.

    We decided to try Uncle Bacalas because they were running an attractive anniversary special and we are so happy we did! The food was excellent as well as the ambiance, ( beautifully decorated … old school Italian with red checkered tablecloths). Our waiter , “Carmine” was professional and courteous and the Cosmopolitan cocktails were the best we’ve ever had! This will be a favorite spot for dinner from now on. 😊

    As soon as my wife and I entered the Red Salt Room we were reminded of why we dine here so often. The ambience of the spotless dining room was perfect. The lighting, the music and the table settings always make for an exceptional evening. Mary was our server for the evening. As soon as the hostess graciously sat us, Mary appeared. As Mary welcomed us, asking how we'd been since our last visit, Jose Luis poured our water and placed a basket of delicious bread on our table. We ordered a bottle of Brunello di Montalcino to complement the Australian Wagyu Striploin that Mary had recommended. The Waygu was added to the menu for the evening and it was delicious. Cooked to perfection by Chef Javier, it would definitely be a nice addition to an already delicious menu. My wife's entree was the Dry Aged Beef Pappardelle. She loved it. Sauteed Spinach for our side, two deliciously brewed coffees. Excellent. Thank you RSR.
