Located in the heart of the Goodwood Estate and surrounded by the South Downs National Park, The Star & Garter in East Dean offers a delicious selection of freshly cooked, local and seasonal food in a charming dining space with red brick and oak beams. Just a mile down the hill from Goodwood Race Course we are 12 minutes drive from Chichester. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner we try to source our ingredients as locally and as seasonally as possible. Whether you are at a Goodwood Event or walking, cycling or just out for a drive and fancy a decent meal at reasonable prices, we like to think we are one of the best around. We have a great courtyard and garden space which can seat up to 100 people. Freshly ground coffee is available all day. With a mixture of local people and tourists there's always a warm welcome here.

Located just outside Chichester, at the heart of the Goodwood Estate, Farmer, Butcher, Chef celebrates the beef, pork, and lamb reared at Goodwood Home Farm. Aptly named, the farmer, butcher, and chef collaborate to discuss the available cuts of meat, which are featured in our hearty Butcher’s Boards and a constantly changing seasonal menu.Awarded two AA Rosette's, it has a relaxed atmosphere with quintessentially British interiors by Leveson Design. With a bar and beautiful courtyard where you can enjoy live music and BBQs throughout the summer months, alongside a full calendar of events, the restaurant is a space to enjoy exceptional food with friends, family and dogs are very welcome too.Goodwood has been farmed by the Dukes of Richmond for over 300 years. Susan, Duchess of Richmond was one of the Soil Association’s earliest members. Her belief in organic food and animal welfare were instrumental in Goodwood Home Farm becoming the first 100% organically fed dairy in the country.

    We previously had our personal celebration here about two years when it was under the “caspari” operation. As we live close by I thought to book here again. Definitely a 10/10 experience. The waiters themselves are such sweethearts. They are super clean in every aspect, nothing goes unseen and everything seemed to have been managed efficiently. Working in the service industry, I am aware that it takes a lot of planning to ensure that everything runs smoothly. The food was of a good portion - not too much not too little. Well worth the money. They also cocktail nights and live singing which gives off such great vibes. Would definitely try to book soon!

    A fantastic lunch experience! The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The service was attentive without being intrusive, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Every dish we tried was well-balanced and delicious. Highly recommend for a great midday meal!

    This isn’t the first time we’ve visited. We went back because it was so good. This time was a little different. The rugby was on it was early evening and it was so loud. The menu was also different and not so many options. The food was ok but nothing special. Service was good tho same lovely chap with witty jokes
