ジョージタウンの一角、オバマがメルケルをともなって訪れた、格調あるお店。料理、雰囲気ともさすが一流という感じです。アタイアはジャケット推奨となっています。ほかのお客さんはチノパンツにワイシャツの方もちらほらいたので、ビジネスカジュアルでよいかと思いますが、せっかくの高級店なのでジャケットを着ていくのが正解かと。あきらかに高級感ただようスーツをビシッと着こなした、ミドルエイジのグループがいましたが、セレブか政治家のオーラをばんばん放っていました。そういう人たちが絵になるお店です。ホスピタリティは最高で、私たちのつたない英語にも眉一つひそめず（アメリカではこれができない店が多い）、笑顔でていねいにお料理を説明してくれました。一皿あたりの量が少ないとの口コミを読んでいたので、私と妻はそれぞれ前菜を2品（ホットとコールドから各一皿）、メインを各自1品ずつ取りましたが、結果的にはやや多かったです。アメリカ人の感覚からすると少ないのかも知れませんが、通常の日本のコース料理の感覚からすると、多めです。私たちはお酒を飲まないのでノンアルコールのカクテルをお願いしましたが、これが美味しかった！注文した料理のほかに、食前の一口冷製スープ、パン（通常のとコーンブレッド、たぶんお代わり自由）、食後の一口アミューズがつきました。お水は通常のとスパークリングウォーターが選べます。お料理：ポークベリーは、豚肉のパテをラズベリーのゼリーで包んだもの。ベリーの酸味と、まったく臭みのないパテの濃厚さが相まって、とても美味しかったです。皿が大きいため、小さく見えるかも知れませんが、日本で食べる同様の料理の倍程度の大きさです。タコは、やわらかく煮込んだタコが泡を模したソースにひたっており、目にも楽しい一品です。味も最高！メインのポークは三枚肉を外側カリッと、中をジューシーにローストし、そのまわりを脂身のない部分を焼いたものがぐるりとかこんでありました。味、盛り付けとも申し分なし！味、格調、ホスピタリティとも最高のお店です。DCのよい思い出になりました。くり返しになりますが、量が少ないというネットのレビューは、ビッグミールに慣れたアメリカ人の感想です。期間限定かも知れませんが$95のテイスティングコースもあり、こちらは量少なめで、あらかじめ決められた5皿が出るようです。

Excellent food and drinks. Superb service. Top-shelf experience and great value for the money. We went there last evening to celebrate 🍾 our wedding anniversary. Wonderful experience.

My wife, daughter, and I dined at 1789 on Saturday night. This was my first experience. The food was exceptional. I had the bluefin tuna crudo, lobster bisque, and filet with lobster. I paired with the La Tour De Bessan Margaux at the recommendation of our server. The pairing was perfect. As for service and ambiance, it was exceptional. I would highly recommend this restaurant and will be certain to return.

Everything was great, the food, the wine, the ambience. The service was for me bit over the top for me as I am from Europe. We didn't need to be asked if everything was ok by 4-5 different people. It gives a feeling we are constantly being watched. Although they were friendly The rest was great!
