It had the makings of a fine restaurant, but unfortunately, it fell short on both service and food.
We waited 45 minutes for any food to arrive, and when it did, one of our dishes was missing. To order a second round of drinks, I had to get up and ask. When the drinks finally arrived, they were delivered to the wrong table. None of them had ice, and one drink was incorrect.
The food itself was poorly prepared. The abalone was overcooked and rubbery, the octopus was undercooked, and the greens were burnt. The cheesecake was so overdone that we had to cut away the entire outer layer, and the poached pear was like a rubbery ball—impossible to cut without a knife from the main course.
At one point, two staff members approached our table. It was clear we were having a bad experience, but instead of apologizing for the issues (incorrect orders, inattentive service), they pressed us to share what we did like. While the wallaby was very nice and my 11-year-old enjoyed his chicken nuggets, there was no acknowledgment of the mistakes made, no follow-up, and nothing said as we left—not even the customary, "Did you enjoy your evening?"
Overall, it was a deeply disappointing experience considering the price. This restaurant left a very poor taste in every sense.
