The afternoon tea was nice...4 finger sandwiches, 3 small cakes, 2 scones with jam & cream...the warm scones were a nice touch. But there was no little 'extras' or salad bits. When we arrived we were just told to wait. No welcoming smile or chatter. As we were seated a lady came in to make a coffee and the waitress told her to go to the bar, not to use the machine. The woman explained she'd missed breakfast and just wanted a coffee and that nobody was at the bar. It was quite uncomfortable and like a hotel guest was being told off!! A beautiful setting but we were alone in the restaurant for quite a while, so there was little general atmosphere. Whilst the waitress was polite she made no mention of the fact we were there to celebrate our daughter's 21st Birthday and seemed put out by the balloon our friend brought with her. There wasn't even a smile! The only conversation we had was from another couple wishing our daughter a Happy Birthday as she was also there celebrating her Birthday. Such a beautiful setting but just a little put off by the overall ambience and staff. This may be partly due to the time we visited (12.30 Sunday) but smiling, friendly staff could have gone a long way to overcome this. We would consider another visit as the setting was beautiful, but what should have been a celebration was somewhat dulled by the staff.

It was an average afternoon tea. Nothing special but nothing terrible. Quite expensive for what we got, have had better for cheaper in different places. Restaurant setting was nice. Service was OK but slow as only 1 server for the Restaurant. Personally I wouldn't return.

Nice selection of sandwiches and cakes. Tea topped up without having to ask. Excellent value for money and a nice start to a Sunday afternoon before going to the Mayflower seeing Behind the Magic

Was a great experience and relax atmosphere where I enjoyed the overall experience. The food was of great, very filling for what it is. Very surprisingly tasty too.

We had a lovely time,but unfortunately both myself and my Daughter were very poorly that evening sickness etc.. we have been poorly for a few days,not nice I'm sorry to say.

Service was exceptional; with the teapot being filled regularly as to not over brew, food coming out timely and general questions answered instantly. We were very impressed and will be back. Only slightly downgraded the food rating as the tuna sandwich was very dry. Everything else was perfect (with clotted cream and jam refills a-plenty!).

We were seated promptly in a nice spot. Food arrived in a timely manner. Staff didn’t come back to check everything was ok but as it was we didn’t need anything more. The cakes were delicious - we had to bring some home as we couldn’t eat it all. Highly recommend.
