Ingredient quality was excellent and several of the bites were truly superb. Presentation was immaculate. Service was excellent. However, some bites were quite over-seasoned to the point that the fish flavors were clobbered. The scallop is one example; it was over-salted to the point that it burned my tongue (but the toasted goma was memorable). The botan ebi tasted only of coconut, but the texture was perfect. Barracuda was salt and char-forward. The alcohol prices are, um, “aggressive.”For example, a pour of Nikka from the Barrel is $35. An entire *bottle* costs less than $70 retail in the Bay Area, and a typical price for a pour is $18, if memory serves.
