Originally built in 1824 as a stagecoach stop, the hotel grew as did the needs of Monmouth County. But, after 180 years of making memories, the facilities were in need of a total make-over. New owner Steve Goldberg, stepped up to the plate by completing a full renovation, creating a New York style Boutique Hotel with restaurant and Banquet facilities which were described in the Asbury Park Press as a "masterpiece" and brought a new life and vibrancy to downtown Freehold.Located in the heart of Freehold, N.J., Monmouth County's government seat, the American Hotel provides travelers and guests a charming stay in a vibrant community.Our 20 hotel rooms, including deluxe and business suites provide all the modern conveniences and an attentive staff available for your personal needs. Our 3 Banquet Halls are ideal for your special Banquet or Party needs.
