artisan is a modern restaurant serving British inspired menus using the finest regional and seasonal ingredients. Heading up the kitchen is North East Chef of the year winner Andrew Wilkinson. Sourcing from the fields, the foragers and the fisherman, Andrew and his team are inspired by daily hauls from our local producers, to create menus which balance a delicacy of technique with an intensity of fresh flavour.

Located in The Biscuit Factory; the UK’s largest art craft and design gallery, artisan is influenced by its cultural location, with creative flourishes of originality in the furnishings and a truly impressive 25 foot glass wall showcasing the latest collections of contemporary sculpture on display in the adjoining gallery. Spacious and modern in its design yet intimate and informal in its feel, artisan is a place to luxuriate in great surroundings with great food.

My mother and I had lunch (a la carte) and it was quite stunning. My only feedback is that the portion sizes are on the large size but that probably personal preference. Absolutely beautiful food and that also comes form my mother, who has run restaurants with AA rosettes. Thank you for taking such good care of us

This was our first night in Newcastle and we were very impressed with Artisan. The food was great, the service efficient and friendly. I included a note on my booking that we were celebrating my boyfriend's birthday and they brought out our desserts with "happy birthday" messages written in chocolate on the plates! A lovely touch. We will be back.

Food was fantastic and well presented and great value at £15 for 3 course. Staff were attentive and after hearing my aunt say she fancied the sorbet( which wasn't available) he got the chef to do an alternative and she was delighted with it. Top marks all round !! Great food, great service, great venue and fantastic value. Thank you for a most enjoyable lunch.

The first time that we've visited since the restaurant opened as Artisan, and it's still amazing food, wonderful service and good value. Interesting vegetarian choices here, which is a refreshing change from many other places I've visited.

Had a wonderful two course lunch with a friend on Friday, the food was totally delicious together with a very good selection also catering for vegetarians which you sometimes find difficult in some restaurants! We felt the service was excellent, very attentive but at the same time leaving us to enjoy our lunch so we will definitely return.

Artisan has one of those menus where you'd just like them to bring a little plate of every single item and keep them coming. And when the food arrives it doesn't disappoint. Good, creative ideas that really work, beautifully cooked and imaginatively presented. Friendly service that's attentive without being obtrusive. And the pre-meal focaccia with olive oil and dukka is so good (and generous) that there's a danger you'll eat yourself to a standstill even before your starter arrives.

First time we've been since the change from Food Social. Delighted that the same excellent front of house team is in place. If anything the food is a little more ambitious and a little better than it previously was - which was very good indeed. We had the douglas fir panna cota, slat cod baguettes, wonderful pink lamb and the rob eye steak. All excellent, and service friendly and professional as usual.

I took my fiancé for his birthday on a Saturday evening. The service was fantastic and the food incredible. Would highly recommend this fabulous gem.

Amazing local produce, staff who know EVERYTHING about the dishes, how they can be adapted to dietary needs and which wine best suits each dish. Outstanding value for true gourmet cuisine! Can not recommend Artisan highly enough! Was well worth the 10-15 minutes walk up the hill from the Quayside, about 5 mins from Northumbria university.
