Askal is Melbourne’s newest contemporary Filipino restaurant and bar located on 167 Exhibition Street. Comprised of a dynamic team of culinary experts, Askal is a three-storey establishment sits in a historical building from the 1800s. The menu is a celebration of traditional Filipino flavours and techniques, showcasing bold and vibrant dishes inspired by ancestral recipes passed down through generations.

Had the cheapest of the 2 set menus, and what a fantastic surprise this all was. The food we fantastic, wouldn’t fault a bite. Service was great, not once did we have to look around for a waiter. Thanks to the whole Askal team

Great food, excellent service and amazing cocktails. We had the ‘piyesta’ all in menu to have a great tasting experience. Everything reached or went above our expectations. Flavour bombs in every mouthful. Askal well deserved it’s hat!

Food was great, service was clunky and it felt as though the staff were new to hospitality. It was also very rushed with only an hr and a half seating

Love this restaurant. We had the Valentine’s Day set menu and it was quality! Wagyu rump cap was a highlight - cooked perfectly and so tender and delicious. Looking forward to going back again sometime soon.

Delicious food, unique cocktails, perfect ambiance, fine-dining service, friendly staff, could not fault any of our dining experience. Not the kind of food you get from most fusion restaurants. The perfect place to enjoy good food, good drinks, good friends!

Very nice food. Service was excellent Our waitress with the American accent was fun and looked after us all night. Food was very interesting and tasty

Excellent take on what Filo food can be. All the traditional flavours are there with a modern twist. Sensational. Service was excellent and charging our dead phones was an added bonus.

02/01/25 Went there 8 mins early was asked if we could return as the man in the reception told us they are not quiet ready yet. Lady servers were nice. We had the piyesta. The food was below par as it was not the filipino taste that we were craving for. As we ordered piyesta we were expecting that we would be fed an ample amount of food but we were not. The price was way over to what was expected. In the first place they shouldnt say it was "piyesta" as we left the place not so full. I was very disappointed. I would not recommend this restaurant and would not be coming back. This is the first and last.

First time visitor. Food was good with ample portions. Not true Filipino food but a fusion of Filipino & Australian. Service was a little slow especially, with initial order and drinks. Had table of 4 next to front door. Apparently the door closure was broken, and everytime someone came or left the door remained open. With cool evening experienced a cold air rush every time the door was open, with both my wife and daughter complaining about the cold. Twice asked (before meals had arrived) if we could move to empty tables nearby, but advised this was not possible as they had been reserved. Despite these advices, tables for six people remained vacant ALL evening. VERY disappointing service response. Felt the beverage menu was overpriced- $18 for a glass of local Riesling. Overall $120 per head with only one guest drinking alcoholic drinks was expensive. Average value for money.

We had the banquet menu and absolutely loved it. A great way to taste a few different menu items. What a flavourful experience. Great option to be able to select a kids meal for little tummies. Thank you
