Avelo Restaurant is located in a heritage townhouse on a quiet street in Yorkville and serves some of the city's finest plant-based cuisine. Our aim is to deliver an extraordinary and immersive dining experience where the servers guide guests through an exploration of many small plates highlighting seasonal ingredients while offering insight into each dish. We also offer an optional wine pairing and are able to accommodate many dietary restrictions with advance notice.
Avelo hosts two dinner seatings per evening where guests choose between the 5-course or the 8-course* tasting menu. The seating times are 5-6:15pm and 7:45-8:30pm.
Prices: 5-course: $70/person Wed, Thu, Sun $85/person Fri-Sat
8-course*: $115/person Wed, Thu, Sun $135/person Fri-Sat

Absolutely stunning. Easily the best meal we've had since visiting Legume in Seoul, and definitely in our top three restaurants post-pandemic (it's hard to remember pre-pandemic so I don't like going back that far). In North America, it may even be the best one!
The restaurant is quite small -- 20 seats total (I counted!), of which two are four-tops and the rest two-tops, so a total of 8 tables. The evening we were there, there were a total of two front-of-house people we interacted with, both of whom were knowledgeable and friendly.
The presentation, flavors, and variety of the food were all superb. This is how vegan food is meant to be, truly!
We did the five-course meal, which was quite filling. That said, the next time we visit Toronto we're already thinking of how to do the eight-course -- skip breakfast; ask for just one plate for certain dishes; ...?

Wow, just wow. We splurged for the 7-course (+4 amuses-bouches and dessert) and it was fantastic. Lots of innovative dishes using varied fermentation methods and great flavour combinations I never would have guessed went together. Highlights include the eggplant "cigar" and romesco filling, black-eyed pea tempeh with miso glaze and pistachio crust (I usually hate tempeh!) and the sourdough mini croissant and dehydrated beet powder on the dip. But the winner by far was the macaron. I've never had a macaron that was so smooth and with such incredible texture and Nutella-like flavour as this one! Non-vegan macarons have this grainy quality and other vegan macarons are just a little too crispy. My spouse adored the carrot cake. The birthday dessert was amazing too (won't spoil it) and service was great. The drinks were on another level - get the Cocoa & Oak, that foam is unreal! My only wish is for an option to add some more spicy and heat, but I understand many diners don't like it.
This is what you want in a fine dining experience! It did not disappoint. We'll be back!
