Located in Milwaukee's Brewer's Hill neighborhood, Avli offers contemporary and classic Greek small plates, mains, and desserts as well as approachable Greek wines and inventive cocktails.

We had reservations for nine to celebrate our family Christmas, and we were seated earlier than our reservation time. Our waiter was very helpful with our orders, making suggestions when asked and double-checking once we decided. The food and drinks arrived quickly, but we had time to enjoy our wonderful starters. The entrees were delicious. Our waiter checked on us regularly. We had a terrific meal and a great time.

This is not a restaurant i recommend for anyone w ADA issues. 2 flights of slippery/greasy stairs to get to our table, and despite asking for the upper level we were told we wouldn’t get to eat for 90 minutes if we didn’t risk safety and go to the basement. Worse part is the stair handle is unusable due to christmas decorations, i cant imagine any ADA group would approve of using the railing for decorations. Once in the basement, service was great, food was good, not spectacular or anything… oakland gyros w a fancy atmosphere, but everything was good. Really could have used something besides rice in the stuffed vegetables. Best bite was the chicken souvlaki and the Savion blanc. We would return, but not with my parents as they really struggled w the stairs. Worse part was as we exited upstairs was 80% empty, seems if the hostess or anyone had really made the effort, they could have accommodated us and not made the elders risk there health on the stairs.

We LOVE Avli! The hot Meze items are all so delicious - the phyllo shrimp are an absolute must have every time we go. The lamb chops were tender, flavorful, and fantastic. Greek meatballs, zucchini fritters, spreads, and the GF pita are all wonderful. We shared the blueberry frozen yogurt with baklava "cigars" and could not believe how fabulous the frozen yogurt was. Better than the best frozen custard I've ever eaten. Our server was delightful and attentive.

The service was incredible and the staff was very nice. We went for a birthday dinner and they made it special.

The ambience of the restaurant as well as the presentation and execution of our dishes was phenomenal! I am looking forward to visiting again soon to try the saganaki and moussaka!

Bar service was disjointed even chaotic. Once we got to our table, the service and food were wonderful. Excellent choices, fair prices and great view of the cityscape.

We had a great meal at Avli! We got there earlier than our reservation, so we had a nice drink at the bar and then were seated promptly at our appointed time. We did a variety of hot and cold meze and made a meal out of that. Favorites included: dolmades, zucchini fritters, octopus and an amazing dish with cheese and peppered fig. Service was attentive without being intrusive. I had been to Avli previously but my 3 guests had not—everyone began to plan return visits.

We made a meal out of mezes - appetizers. The saganaki had a crisp crust and was delicious. Perhaps my favorite dish was the shrimp appetizer. The only down side was many tables packed close together and the noise level. I understand they used to have loud music which made things worse. There was no music (that I could hear) and that helped a little.
