Inspired by our travels through Jamaica, Trinidad, and Barbados, our culinary offerings reflect a deep love for Caribbean food and culture. At the heart of our menu is the bammy, a vegan, gluten-free, and nut-free cassava root flatbread that is a staple in Jamaica. The location is perfect and the vibe was very nice. However, the food situation was odd we ordered; wings, chicken patties, and oysters as the starter and the pasta salmon as entree. The female came back and told us that they were out of oysters and this was about 7:30 - 8:00. I was shocked to hear that they were out on a Valentine's Day night and the restaurant wasn't the pack when we arrived. So my partner decided to order an oxtail entree in replacement of the oyster. The crazy part is that we got the oxtail entree before the starter of the (6) wings and (2) chicken patties. Also, it seems like the female was alone because she overseeing multiple tables on both sides of the restaurant. I would like to go back and support the small black restaurant but I may go during happy hour to try the vibe again. I would rate the food 3 on a scale of 1-5.

The service and food was amazing! We went on a Sunday which was quite and we could enjoy the ambiance.

I was hesitant to give Bammy’s a second chance, but I was pleasantly surprised and had a terrific time! There is new ownership and the customer experience and service was exponentially better and more authentic than my first experience a few years ago. All the food hit the spot (we had curry goat & oxtail; the dessert, a toffee cake with cinnamon ice cream, was memorable). Both the alcoholic & non-alcoholic drinks made with Sorrel were so good and not too sweet. Our server Brittany was thoughtful and incredibly personable. I’m looking forward to coming back and trying more dishes!

We were greeted by a vaping host. Clouding the doorway which was the only entrance. So all we could smell and taste was his vape. Service was extremely slack. To the point that we ordered wine and they forgot. The kitchen seemed to be doing well. The food was good and tasty. Will have to be desperate to go back here.

Terrific food with a bit of a kick. Everything was delicious: jerk chicken, rice and beans, beef turnover (empanadas?). Service was horrifically slow—only a problem because we had a show to get to.

My favorite Caribbean restaurant! Had a delicious virgin mojito and jerk wings with an order of breakfast bread to start; then onto oxtails with rice and sautéed cabbage. It was all so good! Our server, Dre, was so friendly and accommodating which made for a delightful evening all around. Will definitely be going back!

Not a good experience. You know it’s bad when they hand you a scrap paper with two items. They did not have a lot of food items. No mimosas for brunch?! While waiting I ordered a rum punch and app. The bartender rang up my bill incorrectly and could not reverse it. They did give me cash back. I never got my appetizer. No one cane to take our order or give us water. We did not stay to eat. We will not be returning. With many other brunch options in DC. Go somewhere else.

Unfortunately, it was not a good experience. I was told my drinks were happy hour priced but the bill was full priced and they wouldn't change it. Also, ordered 3 salads but only got 2. Had to wait a long time for the 3rd salad. I will not be returning.
