Banquet Chinese is a restaurant and venue unlike any other found in Colchester or North Essex today.

This is Chinese food the way it is meant to be experienced! Our mouth-watering dishes are cooked to perfection by award-winning chefs using only the freshest and finest ingredients.
The interior has been carefully chosen and imported from China to create a genuine and sophisticated yet relaxed atmosphere in which to enjoy your lunch or evening meal, perhaps together with a bottle of wine from the well rounded wine list supplied by Liberty Wines.

We have two private dining rooms available for your own exclusive parties, weddings and corporate conferences. The two rooms have their own entrance and can hold 30 and 50 people respectively, but for larger gatherings, the two rooms can be combined. Menus can be tailored to individual requirements ranging from Dim Sum to the finest Chinese banquet. Our private dining rooms have access to our beautiful Chinese style garden with lovely water features. The perfect place for your guests to wander and enjoy an al fresco aperitif or after dinner digestif! Banquet 1408 and your private party - a unique and sophisticated combination

First time out on a New Year’s Eve for dinner and it was fantastic. All the staff were smiling and attentive and the food was top notch and speed of service just right.

When I booked our table month ago it categorically did not say set menu only this was obviously added later after our booking, we got there to be told it’s set menu only and I am vegetarian my husband is not, there was no accommodation at all for this we had to eat the same menu or leave , we had to leave the restaurant with our 18 month old baby it was awful. Never been treated like that before.

Always great dim sum. Good choice of dishes. Good atmosphere, friendly and efficient staff.

First time at restaurant, very good service, the staff were very friendly and polite. food was outstanding but a little bit pricey. a big restaurant lots of noise and no background music but saying that we will be definitely going back there again

Food was good but when making booking we were not advised that the kitchen closed at 3-00. The staff said that all food would need to be bought to the table at the same time, we were not offered dessert or coffee and instead the bill was put on the table without us asking - we were rushed out as staff were standing staring at our table - shame as it was my mothers birthday lunch…

This in my opinion is the best Chinese restaurant ever. Staff are very attentive and extremely friendly. The restaurant is nicely decorated and well laid out. The food is amazing and they also allow you to switch items on their set menus which is great. I go here with my partner and also family and friends. Every body we take there has always had a wonderful experience
