   The amazingly varied and delicious food is based on the cuisine of Northern Greece. Do not miss the Saganaki, a crispy melted cheese with a few slices of spiced apple on top. And do not miss the fried oyster mushrooms, crisp and tasty with a robust green relish. I'm a vegetarian and so for me the best of the large dishes was the amazing eggplant casserole, served with a slab of feta. But my meat-eating companions raved about the lamb chops. We all loved the big, bold red wine we ordered, on the recommendation of our exceptionally warm and helpful server. We will be back soon to enjoy Bar Vlaha again.

   Nick was an excellent server who was seamlessly managing bartending and serving. The quality of the food matched the fabulous service. The melitzana yiahni is a must order as the feta is so fresh and the dish comforting. I’m pretty picky with food and this was so well seasoned and very fresh. Very accommodating for gluten free. Beautiful plating and dishes as well. We cleaned our plates!

   I recently dined at Bar Vlaha, and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. The marinated chicken, specifically the Kontosouvli, was very average—lacking the depth of flavor I expected from a dish that’s supposed to be a highlight. It felt like it was missing that special touch, especially for a place that’s been hyped up as a go-to for Greek cuisine. The service, however, was the real letdown. Our server was incredibly dry and offered no warmth or engagement. She didn’t explain the menu items at all, which was disappointing since the menu features traditional Greek dishes that could use some context for those unfamiliar with them. It felt like she was just going through the motions, and that lack of enthusiasm really dampened the experience. For a restaurant with such a reputation, I expected more attentive and knowledgeable service. Overall, the meal felt below average for the hype surrounding Bar Vlaha. We finished eating in about an hour and left, not feeling particularly satisfied or eager to return. There are better spots out there for a more memorable dining experience.
