Barrio Queen is the best restaurant in Tempe for authentic Mexican food and craft cocktails. Our food pays homage to history and culture by serving fresh, authentic Mexican cuisine using traditional recipes from barrios throughout Mexico. Our extensive tequila and mezcal list set the stage for our array of fun, flavorful drinks. Each has a personality all its own! Had a reservation, which was needed to get a table even on a Tuesday night. We were seated quickly, but then we waited and waited for our waitress to come take our order. The food came out quickly, but our drink order was never filled. We asked for that to be taken off of the order since we were nearly finished eating by the time our waitress finally made it back to our table. The food was tasty and we enjoyed what we ordered. It is a noisy restaurant, but the vibe and decor are fun.

Make sure if you made a reservation through Open Table the restaurant checks you in otherwise you may not get your points. They didn’t check me in and Open Table had to confirm my presence. I’m not sure I got my points.

When we arrived, we waited at our table more than 15 minutes before anyone came to check on us. Even then we still weren’t offered drinks or even water. We had four or five different people waiting on us, not one specific server and at one point when our food was finally delivered, and I asked the person delivering our food if we could get some more salsa. His response was, “I don’t do that someone else will have to bring that to you.“ Additionally, two of us ordered soft drinks, which weren’t delivered until after our food had arrived and we were halfway done with our meals. The same could be said for our water glasses; repeatedly empty. Once again, we asked for additional salsa as there were six of us and only one salsa dish on the table. Needless to say the salsa was not refilled by the time we left. The food was tasty but the terrible service definitely overshadowed our meals and was all my guests were talking about as we left. It was my first time to your restaurant and I’m not sure I’ll be back after that negative first impression.

Server seemed very disinterested and hardly said a word to us even when we tried to. Seemed preoccupied buy other tables or people.

This was our first time to Barrio Queen. Would definitely return. The food ingredients tasted very fresh and d had a lot of flavor.

Poor service. Cost a lot for a small portion. First and last time there. Will never go back. So disappointing.

Went with friends. Super crowded. Outside seating with live music pretty nice but to cold the day we went. Would recommend. Good food, good prices, great margaritas!!

Another great location of Barrio Queen. More limited menu than the Old Town location but still plenty of choices. Table side guacamole was delish as always.

I asked our waiter about what cocktails they have and he said they pretty much just have margaritas and then my son showed me some cocktail options on the menu and I was able to find something of interest that was not a margarita but a fun hibiscus cocktail. He was not attentive to waters needing to be filled and the food sizes for most of our meals was very small for the price. We sat out on the patio and the music was loud. I will not return.
