Barrio Queen is the best restaurant in Tempe for authentic Mexican food and craft cocktails. Our food pays homage to history and culture by serving fresh, authentic Mexican cuisine using traditional recipes from barrios throughout Mexico. Server seemed very disinterested and hardly said a word to us even when we tried to. Seemed preoccupied buy other tables or people.

Went with friends. Super crowded. Outside seating with live music pretty nice but to cold the day we went. Would recommend. Good food, good prices, great margaritas!!

Another great location of Barrio Queen. More limited menu than the Old Town location but still plenty of choices. Table side guacamole was delish as always.

I asked our waiter about what cocktails they have and he said they pretty much just have margaritas and then my son showed me some cocktail options on the menu and I was able to find something of interest that was not a margarita but a fun hibiscus cocktail. He was not attentive to waters needing to be filled and the food sizes for most of our meals was very small for the price. We sat out on the patio and the music was loud. I will not return.

I enjoy the ambience of Barrio Queen, and the chips and salsa are unmatched. However, I have come to this location multiple times (5-10) and lately been nothing but dissappointed. My boyfriend and I were craving the chips and salsa last night, though, so we decided to give it another try. I got the Birria Chimichongas (seasonal item) and have never experienced a more flavorless dish. I'm not even saying it wasn't the best birria I've ever had, I mean flat out it had no flavor. I ended up just eating my refried beans and the chips. Waste of a trip. My boyfriend's pork was also exceedingly fatty to the point he left most of it on his plate. I was shocked by this experience, as we have given them a try multiple times, but at this point it's so hit and miss we aren't about to spend our money here again. Waste of it, unfortunately.
