Welcome to Bennett's Cafe & Bistro. Located in the heart of York, right on the doorstep of the majestic York Minster, it's the perfect spot for people watching, taking a break from sightseeing or shopping, enjoying a pre-theatre meal or just relaxing with friends over wine and dinner. During the day it's a friendly bustling Cafe serving teas, coffees, homemade cakes, scones, sandwiches and breakfasts, whilst Tuesday-Saturday nights it transforms into a cosy, candlelit bistro serving locally sourced, delicious evening meals accompanied by a great selection of wines. The bistro hasn't been open in the evening since November which I did make open table aware of as they kept asking me to confirm my booking

We booked for an 80th birthday dinner and we were not disappointed. We were very well looked after (especially the birthday girl who was given complementary fizz) and the food was wonderful. I liked the small but varied menu which suited all tastes. The food was beautifully cooked and served. The view is amazing and the prices very reasonable. I would certainly go there again when I am visiting York.

Superb food and quiet, attentive staff. The meal was excellent and good value wine complimented the meal.

Went on a Friday evening & the restaurant was quieter than I expected. Our food was extremely good, the wine very good & the service just right. Delightful sitting in the window with a view of the Minster & passing tourists. This restaurant deserves to be busy. Looking forward to going again.

Warm welcome. Friendly and helpful staff. Menu fairly short but well thought out and from our perspective plenty of choice. Food delicious. Close to the Minister and enjoyed hearing the chimes from the clock tower. Would happily return.

Although we live nearby we have tried many times to get a table here but its usually busy. We fell lucky on this occasion and enjoyed a perfectly cooked meal.
