The eccentric yet sophisticated Birdcage Bar is a cocktail lover’s delight. Take in the hand-painted Billich frescos and the sounds of someone tinkering on the ivory keys of the grand piano.

The intimate setting within the brass bars of The Birdcage has housed many stories since opening in 1975, and there’s room for plenty more.

At Birdcage, our mixologists can tempt you with original cocktails and timeless classics. Or you can settle in for a wickedly indulgent high tea. Our staff will spoil, surprise, and delight you. It’s the perfect spot for a night on the town, a pre-dinner tipple, or a fireside chat with friends. Good times flock to Birdcage.

Enjoy your weekend with our version of what a high tea should be, great drinks, food and a memorable experience. Instead of a normal high tea, what about a cocktail high tea in a birdcage. This isn’t your cucumber sandwich and teapot style of high tea, rather, alcohol inspired mojito cupcakes, espresso martini doughnuts and more. Did we mention, you could finish the whole experience off with our signature cocktail, Birdie Blush. Each person in your party can choose to enjoy the complete Cocktail High Tea ($75pp) or our Virgin Cocktail High Tea ($50pp) * Please note, due to the nature of high tea we are unable to accommodate any dietary requirements. Food contains traces of alcohol and is flavoured to taste like classic cocktails.

Had the high tea in the Birdcage Bar for a Christmas catch up with a friend. We were basically the only ones there so it was very nice and quiet. The food was well presented, however as they do not cater for dietary requirements I was disappointed to find there were some items I was unable to eat. Unfortunately due to this I would not return.

Cocktails were lovely, sandwiches were not assorted as listed but instead all of salmon , which alot of us found an odd choice as not everyone likes fish. Two other savoury small items which were average and the rest were desserts , the desserts being the only saving point for the food. Service was good and the male that served us was very friendly and accommodating. Venue looks lovely since being renovated.

I loved the atmosphere of the Birdcage Bar, very colourful and cosy. The service was excellent, cocktails were smashing (one champagne based the other gin) however the food let it down. Food was very bland, basic tomato and cheese sandwich, macaroons were not light and puffy, scones were so so but the lemon tart was lovely. The food tasted more production line not special. The ambience of the place is great and I would definately go back for drinks and snacks.

We had a ladies day out, and everything was perfect. Plenty of gorgeous food, we couldn't actually get through it all!! Highly recommend!

Lovely experience, abundance of food presented beautifully. Lovely atmosphere, great service. Only minor point disappointed with lack of variety of sandwiches. Overall fantastic and highly recommend.
