Purchased from the Red Iguana family in 1998, the Blue Iguana Restaurant has provided patrons with delicious, authentic Mexican food for over two decades. From day one, the only goal for Blue Iguana was to create a menu rich with traditional, old-world recipes while pushing the culinary envelope and creating new, one-of-a-kind Mexican cuisine.

Trained by the culinary artists of Chihuahua, our head chef, Chef Castillo, cooks up some of the most mouth-watering and unexpected Mexican cuisine outside of his homeland. After he learned closely guarded recipes created in the tradition of generations-old Aztec cuisine, Chef Castillo began applying these techniques to create everything from classic Mexican dishes to modern cuisine.

Our restaurant is warm, inviting, family-friendly, and full of energy. Dining at the Blue Iguana is more than a meal—it’s a journey back in time to the tastes and sounds of old-world Mexico.

No flavor rice & beans. Quality of chicken was off. Rubbery. Mole was meh. Overall, disappointing experience. Definitely not anything like Red Iguana.

Delicious food. I had the chile verde burrito. It can with lots of meat on it. Great atmosphere.

We walk by this restaurant every time we go to a different restaurant and it always smells so good. We finally decided to try it. Unfortunately we were disappointed. It was loud and the tables were seated so close together it was hard to walk through. The food was okay, not worth what we paid. The service was slow and we hardly saw our waiter. We won’t be going back.

A must go to place in Salt Lake City if you like mexican food. Delicious food great service at a very reasonable price. The carnitas platter and steak encebollado are amazing. Best to make reservations or be prepared to wait 45min+ at peak hours

Excellent food in a great location. The Blue Iguana is located down an alley next to the Capitol Theater and just down the street from the Eccles Theater. Great food at reasonable prices in a cozy brightly decorated space. The perfect place for pre-event meal.

Great meal. Emphasize reservations for any evening. Wonderful food and drinks, excellent service as well. I eat there every time my travel takes me to Salt Lake City.
