Nestled in the city centre on Capel Street, itself one of Dublin’s most interesting and charming streets, Brother Hubbard North is just a stone’s throw from the River Liffey. 5 minutes walk from Temple Bar and O’Connell St, Brother Hubbard opened its doors in 2012 and quickly gained a reputation of one of Dublin’s most interesting and innovative dining destinations. Open for breakfast, brunch (7 days a week!), lunch and dinner, as well as having a dedicated take-away and retail shop, there’s lots to discover. There is also a dedicated private dining space for private parties as well as a non-smoking courtyard. The restaurant, service and food were all lovely, service quick for mid day on a Saturday. All was going well until I went to use the restroom facilities. It wasn’t just a case that the toilets were due a routine l check up, but in 5 sinks in a row there was no soap in any dispenser, when I used the hand dryer, even the wall tiles underneath the dryer were manky, which did not build up in the course of one day. Up to this point, I was very pleased with my experience and while I appreciate regular checkups of the rest room facilities can fall behind at busy spells in the restaurant, I feel wall tiles around the hand dryer and for every soap dispenser to be empty etc. are a bigger issue with cleaning routines.

Was really looking forward to trying Brother Hubbard, the menu looked amazing and the atmosphere was lovely, the problem was when I ordered the order took longer than expected and tables that arrived after us were served and finished before us, eventually they came out with the food my friend and I are both Gluten Free I was served my gluten free bread and was told my salad was on the way but it’s not gluten free even though I ordered it gluten free, this lead to another delay and my friend had finished his meal by the time I had mine, tbh I didnt understand how a salad took so long to arrive, I didn’t enjoy the meal and for the price also it seemed like a waste of a meal out

Very good food, but had to wait separately for water, napkins, cutlery. There was no salt in the table. We ordered a coffee that never came. The staff were lovely, though. It just seemed like there wasn't a great system in place for service. Highly recommend the Turkish eggs and the chocolate brownie is to die for - a proper brownie (not cake) and I have tried many brownies.

This was my first time visiting, despite hearing so many great things about the place over the years. What a gorgeous space to visit, it really felt as though we were in Amsterdam or Berlin or some other cool European city. It’s a lovely open space with such a nice atmosphere. The staff were friendly, kind and professional. The food was absolutely outstanding. The menu has so much to offer, I wanted everything!! Both the plates we ordered were stunning, so fresh and flavourful. We had the nicest cinnamon / walnut style roll for dessert, and I’m still thinking about it!! Coffee was gorgeous!! All in all a thrill of a place, and we will definitely be back!! The space itself is also stunning and would made a great place for an event / gathering or wedding reception. The shop side is also gorgeous, filled with lovely little bits. Thank you all and keep up the excellent work 💜
