We first had a drink at Bar Genevieve which was wonderful. Bartender was knowledgeable and very friendly. We will be back there.
On to Byrdie’s; not a good experience at all!! Manager was wonderful and very accommodating. Our server, Alek was pleasant but had no knowledge of wine or liquor. We were very disappointed in wine selection (only one Pinot Noir and only by the bottle). For the restaurant to be French, the wines were not French for the most part. The bourbon selection was very disappointing; the two that we liked were $25/glass. The server told us that the reason for limited selection was that the bar was small??? We visited for awhile before we ordered. When we were ready to order, a new server said she was replacing Alek. She was very pleasant, like Alek and took our orders. We both ordered Steak Frites and one salad. We waited and waited, watching people who had come in way after us get served. We finally called the manager over to ask about our order and the server had forgotten to turn it in. She apologized profusely and assured us that it wouldn’t be too long. She did offer us another drink during our wait. It was probably 15 mins or so when we got our food. The house salad was tasty, but mounded with way too much lettuce. The steak frites were both cooked to order and tasty, somewhat worth the wait. The manager did comp most of our dinner, which was very nice, but the whole experience was not what we expected. We will not be back.
