Mamma Ristorante, in various guises, has been a west London fixture and firm favourite with locals for over 25 years. The current restaurant is on Richmond's Kew Road, easy walking distance from Kew Gardens, and the shops and transport links of Richmond. The décor is wonderfully quirky; the restaurant is decked out to look like a courtyard in Italy, complete with washing lines hung with clothes strung over the tables. As for the food, the extensive menu is full of authentic Italian classics, just like mamma used to make. Diners can choose from a range of tempting antipasti, salads, pastas and risottos, pizzas, meat and seafood dishes, as well as a range of classic Italian desserts. The fresh, tasty food, friendly service, affordable wine list and welcoming atmosphere all go down well with customers and ensure Mamma Ristorante will remain a Richmond institution for many years to come.

Sadly not the sort of meal we were hoping for on New Year’s eve. However, if the following appeals to you, maybe it’s for you: - loud music to spare you the trouble of making conversation with your dinner companion - flashing disco lights so the ensuing epileptic fit will save you the bother of having to pay the bill - A TV no one was watching on in the background. This will distract at least one of you. If this appeals to you, then you will find the food is Ok. There’s also clearly a large number of regulars who enjoy the owner’s enthusiastic hospitality. Personally I doubt we will ever go back as there are so many other better alternatives nearby (Treviso). Even the pub over the road would have been better!

Food was average and had better elsewhere. Waiting staff were good but the person in charge was a bit grumpy. Not a traditional Italian restaurant...Ok if you want an average meal....

No wonder this restaurant has been in Kew for so long. The food is delicious, the team are excellent, the wines are of good quality. What's not to like! We will come back again. Thank you Caffe Mamma.
