Decent Food But Nothing Out of the Ordinary:
I booked a table for two at seven and we arrived bang on time. We had to hang around a little before we were seated as there was no-one in attendance when we arrived but we were quickly seated once we were noticed.
The lass who served us appeared to be quite new to waiting on, was clearly anxious and unused to taking orders, but since this a relatively new establishment, this is to be expected.
The ambience was neutral, nothing special. We turned off the air freshener next to our table as it kept spritzing into our airspace and the last thing you want to taste is air freshener.
The restaurant was fairly full (especially considering it was a Wednesday in early January) and the noise level was quite high, so my husband who is hearing impaired, struggled to hear for some of our visit. The music was 90s pop music, which while we enjoy that era of music, was maybe not really 'dinner music', Italian classical might have been better, to more create an ambience but sit in the background rather than the foreground.
The food was good, but again nothing exceptional so it seemed rather expensive for nothing special. Had we been served genuine Italian gelato or even locally sourced ice cream for desserts and had locally sourced meats and cheeses from local artisan producers been used in their recipes, then they might have been able to command their prices, but both my husband and I felt that the food had nothing to set it apart from any other Italian we have been to.
Overall a nice night out, and great not to have to cook, but the experience won't stay with us for long.
