Chop was created for people who love sharing, connecting and everything steak. We are proud to offer a menu that shares our commitment to sustainable beef sourcing, serving high-quality cuts of 100% Canadian beef. It isn’t just the meat that’s special – it’s also how we cook it. Our Montague broiler cooks at up to 1800 °F, giving a beautiful crust and flavour to every steak! We slow roast our prime rib in a humidity-controlled oven, keeping it mouth-watering and tender. And we put this level of care into each of our hand-crafted drinks, and from-scratch dishes, including plant-based and seafood options, with something for everyone to enjoy. All of this quality comes with friendly hospitality in warm and energetic rooms. Open for breakfast, happy hour, dinner and late-night!

    We went to Chop to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. It was our first time at Chop. We received complimentary champagne as well as an appetizer. Meal was fantastic and they also gave us a card signed by all the staff with well wishes. Great experience and we will return for sure

    Great experience as usual. Steak was a tad overdone but were quickly comped a drink as well as an offer to take it back are redo. Great place to eat

    Service was excellent, including a personal visit by the manager when our server told him it was our first visit. Server was young and just a little nervous, but well trained. A very slight mixup (request dairy-free desert) was caught before the desert was delivered. The food was very good, with a prime rib for me and a steak for my partner. Meat was excellently cooked, and I was particularly impressed with the prime rib. The horseradish blended in with the mashed potatoes and causing me to take a mouth of solid (and very hot) horseradish. Entertainment for my partner, I'm sure. I know people go there for the meat, but little effort seemed to be put in the vegetables or the presentation. A somewhat larger portion for the veg, some au jus, and a bit more oomph in the mashed potatoes would have been great.

    The customer service here was top tier - as a first time visit they ensured our visit was welcoming. The manager himself brought out a complimentary tasting plate while we were browsing the menu. The server (Sherri) was so personable and passionate about the menu. It was also my birthday and they made it really special with a complimentary desert with a happy birthday message on it. I will definitely be back.

    We had the most amazing evening. Even if the food had not been good, it was exemplary, the service we received from our waiter Manolis made our evening fantastic. We will be back.

    We could not possibly be more impressed with CHOP Steakhouse & Bar, Halifax. The wait staff was exceptionally attentive and the food perfectly prepared. We both agreed it was the best customer service we have ever received in a restaurant. If we could give CHOP Steakhouse ten stars out of five, we most certainly would. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

    Always a good experience at CHOP. Food never disappoints and the staff are always great. You can talk to your fellow party unlike some other dining experiences we have had in Halifax. Great time.

    We enjoyed our meals, all of us choosing from the steak selection. The steak was cooked perfectly. If anything, It would be nice if they had a more extensive sides selection. Overall we enjoyed our dining experience and would return.

    Overall, another excellent meal this year, but I have a couple notes on the service this time around. Our group was large and, by necessity, were split into two side by side tables. However, the servers did not seem to take care to coordinate their timing and each of our two tables seemed to operate under a separate cadence. Appetizers and starters were brought to one table first and then 10-15 minutes later to the other table. Mains were delivered all at separate times so it was hard for us to feel as if we were dining as a large group. Also there were a couple mistakes made; wrong sides were brought, one couple in our party did not get their appetizer they ordered or their dessert (the shift manager did compensate them for this service failing) and our table had to order our desserts twice as our server did not seem to hear any of us order. All that being said, it was a fine dining experience and I feel as the service problems experienced this tear were anomalies as previous experiences have always been stellar.
