As our first time at Cibo we were really looking forward to our meal after hearing great things about the food. The 4 of us each ordered the ‘Focaccia Alla Cibo’ as our starter, not having seen nor been aware of the size of this previous. When 4 large, full-sized, pizza style starters arrived at the table we were in shock. As we looked around we began to notice many tables with the same starter, except sharing 1 between a group of people. We instantly felt the waiter should have made us aware of the size of these when ordering, but he didn’t. We could barely eat a quarter of them each, overall just managing to get through two of them, which was forced as we couldn’t deal with the waste of food and money. When the waiter came to clear our plates we told him he could have made us aware of the size of them when allowing us to order one each when it is clearly made to share. To this he replied “I was going to say something but then decided not to”. To this we responded that we would have only ordered one, maybe two if we knew. He then said “my mistake I should have said, I will tell my manager”. Unfortunately this really but a dampener on the rest of our meal. I asked to speak to the manager about this but he didn’t come. We were given the bill for our meal and our jaws dropped. Not only did they charge us for the 4 starters but also included a hefty service charge. I asked to speak to the manager yet again as I didn’t feel we should have had to pay for the 4 starters that we didn’t eat, that the waiter said was his mistake. The manager told us that they shouldn’t ‘have’ to tell as it is their most popular dish and everyone knows the size already. Considering we were on holidays, and very obviously didn’t have an English accent, they should have told us as it would’ve been the decent thing to do. I explained this to him and he said there was nothing they could do and won’t be removing it from the bill. We were very disappointed we weren’t compensated for this mistake.
