    First experience. Great trendy atmosphere. Live music the night we were there. Burger and bourbon night. One of our group ordered the pasta dish. Very small serving felt more like a starter. Otherwise satisfying and we will try it again.

Regarding the pasta dish, it is, in fact, a small plate intentionally designed for sharing and experiencing multiple dishes throughout the meal. However, the portion is also conducive for one person to enjoy as a lighter main course.     First time to Claypool after hearing good things and the food did not disappoint. In fact all the dishes we had were excellent, including the Hamachi Crudo and Bone Marrow apps and fish of the day (Snapper) and Rack of Lamb for entrees. service was very attentive and quick. Ambiance is nice in a classy pub/bar style manner with a very attractive bar area. Decent selection of wine - and obviously a huge selection of bourbons/whiskies The big issue - and it is an issue - is that the food came out so quickly that we could have been done eating in 20 minutes if we wanted to. From the time we placed our order - the appetizers were out in less than 5 minutes - fine -although we had not even gotten our wine at that point - but then our entrees showed up 5 minutes after that while we still eating the appetizers. not good. so we had 5 plates sitting on the table. I mentioned this to the waiter and he apologized and later on in the meal they offered us a free dessert, which was nice. It just seemed like everyone was in hurry to close the place down. At 8:20 pm on a Saturday night with still a decent crowd, they were scrubbing down the floors of open kitchen in plain view of the patrons. I will come back for the food as it is some of the best I have had in the Asheville/Hendersonville area but will give clear instructions on the pace of food delivery to ensure this doesn't happen again or will order apps only and then order the mains later. Maybe this was a one off but this is an expensive restaurant and so they need to figure it out

Was there something specific that impacted the value rating since you have stated it exceeded your expectations? We truly appreciate your visit and hope to welcome you back for an even better experience soon. As a small, chef-driven restaurant with an open kitchen, we have to be mindful of efficiency—especially when reservations are extremely low for a Saturday evening. March poses inconsistencies for restaurants in this community and we have to be fiscally responsible with payroll. While this practice is common, it may be more visible in our space. That said, we hear you and will refine pacing.

    Claywood is a really great boutique restaurant and whiskey bar. It was a perfect evening for a quiet dinner, the food was delicious and the service was very personal. There was light song and acoustic guitar music in the background, and we could still easily talk. This is now one of my favorite restaurants in the greater Asheville area- Hendersonville area.

    Another great visit to Claywood. They have some new bar staff and the service was excellent. This restaurant just continues to evolve and get better and better. Cheers

    Lovely place, very comfortable. Drinks and Service are excellent. Food was good but not outstanding for the prices being charged. Liked the board options much better than the new menu.

    We live in town but this was our first time at Claywood. What a lovely place! The atmosphere/vibe, food and service were excellent. The pork belly was delicious and only outdone by the citrus caramel that accompanied it! We also had the sirloin and Red Snapper fish special and both were tasty. The prices are a little high so it won't be too regular of a spot for us.

    Severe disappointment !!! They were out of the two items that we wanted. The smoked trout was decent, but the bone marrow at $22 was truly pathetic as there was only like four bites. Risotto at $38 tasted like it came out of a box.

While we strive to keep our menu fully stocked, certain high-demand items may sell out due to our commitment to using fresh, high-quality ingredients. Our bone marrow is intentionally prepared as a rich and indulgent dish, meant to be enjoyed in smaller portions due to its decadent nature. As for the risotto, it is always made from scratch using carefully sourced ingredients—never from a box.
