Consiglio's Restaurant: A True Taste of Italy in the Heart of New Haven's Little Italy District
Consiglio's Restaurant has been a staple of the Little Italy district in New Haven for over 80 years. Founded in 1938, this third-generation, family-owned establishment offers a romantic and comfortable atmosphere and uses old-world, family-inspired recipes to create delicious dishes.
Consiglio's menu is focused on delivering affordable, delectable food for guests to enjoy any day of the week. Start your meal with an appetizer like the cauliflower with truffle oil, eggplant rollatini, or the fried calamari. For the main course, indulge in popular dishes like the Lobster Ravioli, Homemade Cavatelli and Braciole, or their award-winning Lasagna, which recently took home the title of "Best Pasta in the State."

                            Great place. Tightly packed unfortunately and seems like it was overbooked so there was a wait period despite having a reservation. Food and drinks were good.

                            I arrived earlier than my husband for dinner on Valentine's Day. They accommodated me at the bar while I waited, helping me secure a seat. The place was understandably busy on this night but the service was still terrific. We wound up staying at the bar to eat (by choice). The food was very good with more than enough to bring home leftovers. I don't want to recommend much further in case I can't get my own reservations the next time I want!

                            We were greeted promptly at front door, passed really cool paintings on the left and sat in the back room, which had a great vibe! Server, Sam, greeted us with enthusiasm and was lovely. The food, as usual, was delicious. Arancini for an appetizer, cod special, shrimp, piccata, spicy chicken Gorgonzola and pork chop - all great! Drinks were tasty too! Mocktails and spicy fig margaritas.

                            Consiglio's is a neighborhood gem! I have been twice while visiting family in New Haven, and the food was exceptional both times, as was the service. The ambiance is interesting, intimate, and allows for easy conversation during the meal. The menu offers the classics and a variety of appetizing selections. Additionally, the daily specials have not disappointed!
