Dolce Italia was established in 2010 by Tiziana Di Costanzo who came from Ischia, an island in the Gulf of Naples. Using a combination of classic Italian dishes, family recipes passed down for generations, and warm hospitality, Dolce Italia has built a reputation in Sarasota as a destination for anyone seeking great food and ambiance. In 2015 Matthew joined as manager of the front of house and is now a managing partner of Dolce Italia. The kitchen staff trained by Tiziana from the beginning are still with the restaurant with Maria being the capocuoco.
Some of the specialities Dolce Italia has become famous for are the Napoletan Eggplant- a tender sautee eggplant with fresh tomatoes crowned with ricotte, the Trenne Dolce Italia- the signature pasta dish with creamy tomato sauce, fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, and mushroom.

    We had the Trenne Dolce Italia with meatballs and started with the buffalo mozzarela. The restaurant is quaint, well-appointed, and very much a reminder of small restaurants in Europe. The waitstaff is professional and clearly excited about the food they are serving as they well should be. They are kind, attentive, helpful, and understand that the pace of dining for each customer is different and accommodates them accordingly. The Trenne was excellent. It looked especially appetizing and tasted even more delicious. I also very much like the gnocchi. It is our favorite restaurant in Sarasota which is why we make it a priority to eat there each year while we escape the cold north. Saving on taxes is a good reason to move to Floirda but an even better one is that you could Cafe Dolce Italia as often as you please.

    Dolci Italia never ever disappoints. People rave about other Italian restaurants in the area, but none compare to Dolci Italia. The service, the food, the value, and the atmosphere are all top notch. Most importantly, they have a high standard in both service and their food and they consistently maintain both each and every visit. Matthew and his team are outstanding . The dishes are authentic and and delicious. We have worked our way through the menu and are never disappointed.

    Servers worked as a team, explained the various dishes and were very timely and personable! Food was outstanding! Dining space was pretty small but sufficient. Only wine and beer available. Tremendous value and culinary experience!! Highly recommend if you’re looking for excellent cuisine!

    Always a wonderful dining in Matthew’s fine establishment. Makes you feel like family, which is an awesome quality to have. Oh, and the food is outstanding as well 😀

    Top notch! We were seated a few minutes earlier than our reservation time. We enjoyed a special crab appetizer, Trenne Sausage and Frutti de Mare mains and Tiramisu for dessert. This is a terrific small Italian Restaurant with very friendly excellent service. Bravo!

    Absolutely one of the best Italian dinners I have ever had. The house specialty, Trenne Dolce Italia with meatballs was scrumptious. The bread was divine and could have been a meal itself it was that good. I'm almost remiss to provide a review and would have rather kept it a secret, but I wanted the owner to know how amazing her food is. The owner greeted everyone and provided suggestions which is always a nice touch and offered to make our meals any way we desired. I'll definitely be back.
