We are bringing "True Greek" to the Upper West Side. At eléa, we only use the finest quality ingredients (Grade 1 Yellow Fin Tuna, Loche Duarte Scottish Salmon) to create traditional "True Greek" fare. Now Open, on the heels of the successful summer opening of Kyma Flatiron, sister restaurant eléa on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. With an open split-level design punctuated with traditional Grecian pottery and décor, eléa will transport guests to a romantic island vacation while also evoking an intimate, softly lit aesthetic perfectly suited for the uptown neighborhood. Meaning “olive” in ancient Greek, eléa offers guests a menu of soulful and modern Greek dishes that encompass flavors across the region’s many islands and terrains.

Two of us shared the baked salt crusted fish, which was excellent. But another had salmon which , though ordered medium rare, was over cooked and dried out. We should have sent it back but place was so crowded, it was hard to get server's attention. Fourth entre--sea bass--was ok, but not really special and was not properly deboned.. Greek salad first course was excellent as was Greek yogurt dessert. We had early reservations, at 6:00, and it still took exactly 3 hours to complete our dinner. Kitchen was clearly overwhelmed.

The restaurant serves a Greek "modern" menu. Many of the old classics with some interesting updates. The wait staff is extremely helpful and very attentive, no small feat given how full the restaurant was. It was very loud, but that is a problem at most Manhattan popular restaurants. If you are willing to spend a lot for a very good meal, this is a definite place to consider
