The food itself was good, but the overall experience with the entire restaurant can not justify the $140 pp pricing we paid inc one drink pp and not including any desserts.
Front of House
The team lacked the experience to manage the front of house efficiently or create a welcoming, customer-focused atmosphere expected at this price point. The hosts, seemingly juggling roles as waitstaff, appeared dry and unwelcoming. Their multitasking often left customers waiting to be greeted during busy periods. The waitstaff felt tense and understaffed, struggling with table assignments and food placement. Mistakes included delivering dishes to the wrong tables and neglecting to clear leftover food or sauces promptly.
Food
Entrées: The $24 garlic bread was average, and the rock oysters were overly salty with an odd presentation. The steak tartare, priced at $42, felt overpriced for its quality. The buffalo calamari was tasty, with the buffalo sauce outshining the tartare sauce. Garlic beef skewers was a tad dry, but the chimichurri sauce was delicious.
Mains:
•Rocket Pear Salad: Refreshing, though a bit salty for some.
•Toothfish: Enjoyed by my mum, who finished it all.
•Sous Vide Beef Short Ribs: Tender but overshadowed by overly sweet barbecue sauce.
•Tomahawk Steak: Served tableside for a nice Instagram moment. While decent, it wasn’t exceptional and comparable to other steakhouses.
Sides: The grilled sweet corn ribs were a hit, and the truffle steakhouse chips had a generous amount of truffle but were too thick. The portabella mushrooms had great umami flavor.
Dessert
We skipped dessert, partly because we were full but mainly due to the lack of attentive service as the restaurant got busier.
Overall
The food was good but overpriced, especially given the service shortcomings. For quality steak and better customer service, consider Meat and Wine Co. If you’re after a waterfront view, it might be worth a visit.
