The Elysian Cafe is a casual French-American restaurant with a large bar area, quiet back dining room and a large outdoor dining area. Located in Hoboken, NJ it is the oldest owned and operated bar in Hoboken. Beautiful 100 year old plaster ceilings span the entire inside dining area, giving a warm feeling for the dining experience. The outdoor dining cafe brings you right to the streets of Paris and are adorned in white flowers and shaded areas. The Elysian Cafe is a great place to grab a quick bite, meet up with old friends for a chatty afternoon or have a quiet dinner date.

The Elysian cafe is a great go-to restaurant with fair prices on everything from hamburgers, egg dishes, chicken sandwich and more. You typically get side option choices of fries or a salad which I really like.

I have had mixed experiences at this establishment, but unfortunately, my most recent visit was particularly disappointing. While I typically do not mind being seated in the middle of the dining room, our table placement made for an uncomfortable experience, as waitstaff and other patrons frequently bumped into us. Additionally, there was minimal space to place my handbag and our coats. When I politely inquired whether any accommodations could be made—especially since two available booth tables for two remained unoccupied—I was met with an unhelpful and dismissive response from our server. Beyond the seating issue, the service itself left much to be desired. Our server was noticeably less attentive to us compared to other tables, barely checking in, neglecting to offer us drinks or appetizers, and taking nearly 30 minutes to bring our check. Meanwhile, we observed her engaging with and accommodating other guests in a much more courteous and efficient manner. This discrepancy in service made our experience feel particularly frustrating and unwelcoming. To make matters worse, I felt uncomfortable and rushed throughout the meal, as the host was constantly hovering near our table, creating an unsettling dining experience. Instead of enjoying our meal at a relaxed pace, we felt pressured to finish quickly. Overall, while I have had bittersweet experiences here in the past, this visit stood out due to the lack of hospitality and professionalism. Given these concerns, I am hesitant to return.

A neighborhood watering hole. Reliably very good cafe fare. Friendly unobtrusive service. Can be a bit loud for us old folks, but a good time for all.

I had a great experience trying Elysian Cafe for the first time. It had a cute cozy vibe! Overall, I would go back for a date, a laidback catch up, or even to grab a couple drinks at the bar.

The best reuben ever. We've had lunch there many times. Never disappointed. The food is served well, delicious and consistent. I also had the lobster bisque today. Lobster meat was presented in the bowl and the bisque was poured over. Very unique and very good. But, if you like corned beef, you must have the reuben. You can also opt for a half sandwich and cup of soup. I really can't eat a whole sandwich, so that's perfect.

Great restaurant for brunch. We went as a family, but have been as just a couple as well. The decor is warm and inviting. The food is dependably good and the kids all loved their meals.
