Our experience at Epilogue was disappointing, especially considering its location in the Four Seasons Resort. At $75/person + a 20% automatic gratuity, we expected more. While the concept has potential, the execution fell short. The experience started poorly, with a 20-minute wait to receive our first clue, despite checking in early. The clues themselves lacked intrigue, and the rushed pace inside the speakeasy made it hard to enjoy fully.
The "no photos" policy was a nice touch for immersion, but ordering felt hurried, especially with a detailed cocktail book to explore. The drinks were excellent, thanks to the skilled mixologist. It took 40 minutes for our second drink order to be taken, leaving us just 10 minutes to enjoy the 2nd round before being told to harken back to our college days and chug our drinks because we needed to wrap up due to other, incoming reservations. Being offered plastic to-go cups for artfully crafted cocktails was frustrating for such an upscale experience.
Adding to the confusion, the waiter mistakenly handed us a check meant for another table (which got service fast enough to order a third round!). When we asked why we were getting a bill, the waiter had to ask a manager and the bartender before realizing the mistake. The absence of a food menu, save for a light snack (popcorn), was particularly problematic, especially during dinner hours.
Ultimately, Epilogue doesn’t justify its price point in its current state. Until staffing issues are resolved and a food menu is added, I cannot recommend this experience.
One other example of everything feeling cheap -- your clues ultimately give you a key card (just like you would use at your hotel room door) to get into the Speakeasy. Apparently, $75/person isn't enough to be able to afford reprints of the cards as we were explicitly instructed to leave the key on our table when we were done. I'm not sure how they can't afford to print new key cards when the Motel 6 will let you keep your room
