Erie Cafe is a premier destination of River North for steaks, chops, and homestyle Italian favorites since 1994. The 1940s club-like atmosphere, elegant bar, and lush outdoor dining is the gem of the neighborhood. Erie Cafe serves the finest aged steaks butchered daily from whole primal cuts, homemade ravioli, specials, and desserts daily for both lunch and dinner. This Chicago Classic is 3rd generation family-owned and operated.

Out of town visitors celebrating NYE & 1 year wedding anniversary, we were actually married on 12/31 🥰. Anyway, the Chicago food scene never disappoints but this place was not it. The host and server assistant were kind, but it stopped there. Our servers personality was dry as a bone. I only learned his name (Martin) by reading it on the receipt. It almost seemed like it was painful for him to wait on us. I don’t need an overly friendly server but when paying $$$$ prices I expect a little more. I’m also aware NYE is a busy night but he was appeared to be friendlier with familiar faces. The side potatoes & side spinach both good, the bone-in ribeye was bland, was any salt, pepper, or butter used? We frequent Chicago as it’s not terribly far from St. Louis, I would not return here.

On a busy New Year's Eve our food was perfectly prepared and the meal was timed appropriately - we didn't feel rushed. The excellent team at EC always takes great care of my husband and me, and we highly recommend the restaurant to anyone who wants a great steak! The room is beautiful, it's all the best of traditional steakhouse decor.

Erie cafe is a traditional steakhouse and favorite among locals. The dishes are classic. Menu is short (steaks, pastas, a few other entrees like chicken vesuvio). Service was great but it did take a very long time for someone to great us when we came in. Atmosphere was much better than expected. The space is big, lively, warm and covered with wood and brick. Feels like an easy place to have a nice low pressure dinner. The food was okay. My veal Parmesan was “fine” but had a meat sauce and pasta I could have lived without. My friend had the rib eye in the past and thought it was disappointing. But today, he had the pork chops, which were incredible. Potato and vegetables sides were good enough. I left thinking it was good enough to come again. I’ll just need to be more careful about what I order.

Our recent visit to Erie Cafe was nothing short of spectacular. The ambiance was warm and welcoming, setting the perfect tone for an enjoyable evening. We indulged in their Chicken Parmesan and Fettuccine Alfredo, both of which were absolutely delicious. The chicken was perfectly breaded and tender, while the Alfredo was creamy and flavorful. To complement our meal, we sipped on expertly crafted Negronis, which added just the right touch to our experience. The service was impeccable, with attentive staff who made us feel right at home. Erie Cafe is definitely a gem in the city, and we can’t wait to return for another outstanding meal. Highly recommend!

Everything thing was great except for the extended period we waited to order and when we asked for the check. Seemed to be some confusion on who was handling our table. Food was wonderful!

Fun restaurant love the aesthetic, it's a dark and dark wooded place so candles on the tables would be ideal and make the dining experience elevated --- Our waiter(s) were great, comfy booth and frank sinatra era vibey Kristin :)

This place was highly rated, however we were disappointed. Service was brisk . There was no personality of wait staff. They were like robots. Salad dressing was boring and non descript. Steak was good but I have had better at a chain restaurant in Atlanta. Very loud inside for such few people on a Sunday night. Would not come back nor would I recommend especially since prices did not reflect an overall top notch experience.

Consistent and fabulous as usual. Portion sizes are immense so sharing is recommended at times, old world Italian. The grilled calamari is our absolute favorite appetizer. The filet can be cut with a Fork. we stop here every time we’re in town.
