About Our Chef

Chef de Cuisine Arturo Elias brings a deeply personal touch to every dish, making full use of his traditional French training while also drawing inspiration from memories of cooking side-by-side with his grandmother in Mexico. His multicultural experience shines through in bold, flavorful accents that add a unique twist to Mid-Atlantic fare, blending time-honored techniques with a passion for innovation.

Our waiter was very knowledgeable about rhe fish and sold us on a lovely shared sea bass which paired nicely with our cocktails

A mixed review. We went for Valentine’s Day dinner. There was a preset menu, the food was exquisite. The service was slow due to the bar and kitchen being backed up. The view of downtown Washington DC was wonderful. We will come back, not on Valentine’s Day and try other options from the menu.

Overall, I would not recommend Estuary. Before our reservation a few of my friends met in the lounge/bar for drinks. Our cocktails took over 20 minutes to come out from the bar. I had to track down the waiter to check on our drinks twice. When it was time for our dinner reservation we ended up waiting 15 minutes at the check-in because the restaurant ran out of menus, so the hostesses were assembling menus while we waited. After 15 minutes of standing and waiting I eventually asked that we please be seated while the hostesses finished assembly the menus. Then again the service through dinner was poor, inattentive, impersonal, and curt. This time our cocktails took so long to come out that the waiter had come back to take our dinner order before our cocktails even arrived. Again, I had to ask the waiter to finally bring out cocktails after 30 minutes. Our drinks finally arrived, but there was no apology or even acknowledgment of the long delay. Also, my friend and I split the $80 red snapper for two entree, which was barely enough for one person and was not properly filleted (bones galore!). A restaurant that advertises as a seafood restaurant should fillet and debone its fish properly.

Estuary was FANTASTIC! Our server, Mark, really went out of his way to ensure the evening was special and we were well attended to. From the welcome bubbles, to the decadent eats, sumptuous environment, and truly delightfully hospitable staff, it was perfect. I referred it to my network of foodies and look forward to being back myself in the very near future!
