Welcome to Floris at VMFA!

***WE ARE CLOSED FEBRUARY 8TH FOR A SPECIAL EVENT AND WILL RESUME NORMAL HOURS ON THE 9TH.***

Our high tea menu and tea service is offered daily from 11:30 am - 2:30pm priced at $45 per guest, not inclusive of tax and service. We kindly require each guest's participation.


Floris invites you to immerse yourself in a culturally enriching tearoom experience at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Nestled in the beautiful surroundings of the Robins Sculpture Garden, Floris is a community gathering space located in VMFA’s Pauley Center.


Take a mid-day escape and indulge in delightful pleasures for the palate, including expertly crafted blends from guest tea makers. Chef Chainey Kuykendall’s use of fresh ingredients from local vendors and importers further enhances Floris’s celebration of cultures and community.


Reservations for our high tea are encouraged, as seating is limited. Questions can be directed to 804-340-5785 or floris@vmfa.museum

    The Tea at Floris @ the VMFA is just lovely. This was our second visit. We were greeted warmly and seated at our table for 4 near the fireplace. Because we visited close to Valentine's Day, we were offered a special Valentine's Day menu in addition to the regular tea menu. We stuck with the tea menu but added a glass of Cava. We were celebrating a birthday and they were kind enough to bring a piece of red velvet cake to help us celebrate. It was moist and delicious. Our tea started with a pot of Masala Chai and a pot of white tea (cherry blossom) followed by freshly made (still warm) scone and walnut cranberry bread. These were served with their homemade elderberry spread. So delicious!! Next came the tea service - savory sandwiches and a small piece of quiche which was so creamy and eggy - amazing. The sweets on the tray were beautiful to look at and tasty to eat particularly the cream puff. Our server was attentive and knew the menu well. We can't wait to go again.

    Very pleasant experience. Food is not as fancy as expected. We still had a lovely time Nice splurge for a date.

    Wonderful stress free Sunday afternoon-just perfect treat for a dreary day. Great wine, wonderful tea and food! Highly recommend!

    The food was a huge disappointment to be honest. I’ve been here once before and was impressed so this was a surprise. The food was stale, as if left sitting out for a long time. The savory items were bland and uninteresting. And even bigger disappointment for the money- $45 per person. I can’t say I’ll be back.

    My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our high tea today. It was a very interesting collection of tasty food. The tea was awesome and unlimited. The atmosphere was charming, but It might get loud if there were more tables occupied. I would definitely go back.

    Everything was absolutely exceptional. The tea, the food, the service & the ambience. I sincerely appreciate that we were able to enjoy our time in this space and not feel rushed. Definitely plan to return again & again.

    The Floris venue was a wonderful place to have a nice quiet and very enjoyable tea with a girlfriend. We hadn't seen each other for years and couldn't have asked for a better place to have a reunion. The food, tea and service was everything one could hope for. Thank you for making this a special occasion. I will highly recommend this to my friends.
