Frank Mac's. Gin & Cocktail Bar
The original 1840s sandstone walls of the building Frank Mac’s now occupies a 120-person capacity bar which flows from outdoor seating on George Street, across two levels and into a back courtyard. Whereas the downstairs space feels cosy and intimate, dotted with vintage leather banquettes, dark jade and light orange velvet armchairs, low tables and a fireplace, the ground level you’ll walk into off George Street will reflect the energy of the bartenders working behind the almost five-metre-long oak bar. A handful of bar stools provide the perfect vantage point to take in the cocktail mixology while the dark velvet curtains, worn leather banquette seats and cosy fireplace of the ‘Snug’ provides groups of up to eight with a private space to retreat and relax.

The staff and the level of attentiveness was great. We dropped by earlier in the day to arrange a few details for the night, and everything was seen to as we wished even though the place was pumping thanks so much for an amazing night.

The staff are amazing. I had requested particular seats (the snug) but they offered both this and by the fire, and then were lovely when my date decided he wanted to change. I’ll give them 10/10 and the date 1/10 🤣

First time getting to dine at cupan cafe today, getting to bring my mam and dad who are over from Ireland on holidays. We all throughly enjoyed the food we got! The toasties were 10/10 aswell as the open prawn sandwich. The staff were more then helpful and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. Lovely setting and will most definitely be back to try out the scones next time! Look forward to my next visit!

Came here on Sunday morning, such a lovely little cafe! The toasties and open prawn sandwich was delicious! Staff is super friendly and quick service aswell!

Had such a lovely lunch here, we were accommodated for a group of 8 and also a pram. The food is delicious and the staff were really friendly. Definitely worth the visit if you are in the rocks!

Hi there, I just wanted to give my feedback on a recent booking we had at cupain caife on Sunday 7th April. We arrived at 12.30pm we had a booking for 3x guests we were sat at a two person table with very little room for our order drink food etc. We ordered food and ordered a cheese board and a round of scones for 3 people. When the food arrived there was not enough space for drinks and food at said table. We also were missing the scones that we ordered and were told that they would be brought out to us as soon as we finished the cheese board. We were never served the scones in the end they were completely forgotten about .The Bread on the platter was also stale and the cheese was off. The board on which the cheese was served also was not clean and we also were not provided with the correct cutlery for the platter. Overall extremely disappointed with the service and food quality here. We were really looking forward to supporting Irish a business however the overall experience was not up to our expectations.

Had a booking for 11 people for Cupan Caife and wasn’t too impressed with the service or the fact that there wasn’t half of the food on the menu left knowing that there was a large booking. The coffees took over 30 minutes to get and hour and a half for toasties. The had forgotten two toasties so had a longer wait again. Felt ignored by staff as they didn’t acknowledge the fact they had forgotten the 2 toasties. On the way out to pay the waiter didn’t seem impressed that we wanted to pay separately as he commented “it would take a long time”.
