Giovanni’s has been one of my favorite restaurants since 2016. The food, drinks, and service has always been of the highest quality. I’ll be back soon again!

Great sauce, fresh ingredients. Risotto was cooked perfectly though the scallops were small and rubbery. Service was good but not Joe Muir’s good, our table was poorly lit in a high traffic area. Like in every restaurant, there are tables to avoid. We will go back, request a better table, get the eggplant parm and beet salad. Our wine and drinks were well prepared.

Hostess was rude and told us they were full and would not change our table after being seated next to loud rude couple at a table set up way too close to them. Felt like we were at the same table as this odd couple cackling loudly and touching each other constantly. Food took a while for us starting to dine at 8:45 pm. Food was good, but everything else-service, atmosphere, bad table layout made it not worth $475 on Valentine’s dinner for 2 people prix fixe menu ($125 each) and 2 bottles of $60 wine.

We were ushered right in due to the reservation time we had. We were seated at the last table for 2 against the wall and above the bar area. They must have moved the tables to fit all the parties of 2. Servers were visibly having difficulty getting to us because the tables were so close. The head waiter took our wine order, appetizer and main course. He explained that another person would get our dessert order later. For $125 I had a Caesar salad, a six ounce salmon fillet over spinach and my selected dessert of a chocolate cake. My partner had the same salad but instead of fish he had chicken with roasted potatoes and cream caramel. A bus person dropped off some bread pieces but although I saw that he was serving some diners butter, he never made it over to us. Normally we don’t eat out to celebrate Valentine’s Day because we know that such a popular time eating out doesn’t represent the true service and caliber of food. However, we were visiting from out of town. Taking into consideration that we were dining out on the second busiest holiday (Mother’s Day is #1.), Giovanni’s was pretty good!

An old school Nashville vibe with really good food and laid back, but, attentive service. One of the best Italian menus in town. Definitely a place worth visiting. In Nashville's changing and growing restaurant landscape, this is a place you will put on your top 5-10 list for regular nights out.

The Valentine’s Day menu for $125 did not seem like a good value. Food was delicious, but did not expect to spend as much as we did for what it was.
