Dear Hawksmoor Team,
I am writing to express my disappointment with a recent dining experience at your Dublin restaurant, where my family and I celebrated a special birthday. Unfortunately, the service did not meet our expectations.
Service Issues:
•Seating and Attention: We were seated near the wait station in a busy hallway. Despite this, our empty glasses often went unnoticed, requiring us to repeatedly request refills.
•Staff Interaction: We observed a noticeable difference in the demeanor of the team leaders and waitstaff towards our table compared to others. While neighboring tables received warm interactions, we felt a lack of engagement and warmth.
•Special Requests: Prior to our visit, we had requested a simple dish of plain pasta with butter and grilled chicken seasoned with only salt and pepper, as well as a whole lobster with lemon butter on the side. These requests were declined with a firm “no can do,” and when the lobster was served, it was only half and accompanied by sauce, contrary to our request.
•Birthday Acknowledgment: I had noted in our reservation a desire to celebrate my wife’s birthday, specifically requesting that her name be included on a dessert and that staff join us in singing. Regrettably, this was not acknowledged during our visit, and the dessert was served without the appropriate cutlery.
Dining Experience:
•Table Settings: We encountered dirty glasses, an empty pepper shaker, and cold plates accompanying the main course, which caused the food to cool rapidly.
•Service Execution: There was a tendency to place items on our table without engagement or eye contact, making the service feel perfunctory rather than attentive.
We understand that occasional oversights can occur; however, the combination of these issues during such a significant occasion was particularly disappointing. We chose Hawksmoor for its acclaimed service and dining experience, and it is regrettable that our visit did not reflect this.
